The most important thing to keep in mind is that a child is not simply a small adult. Their body is in a crucial stage of growth and development. According to the World Health Organization, six of the seven factors that play an important role in health are related to diet and physical activity.

It is recommended not to overconsume vegetable fats and to eat fruit and vegetables at least five times a day.

Does your child eat fruit and vegetables?

During their growth, children can develop healthy eating habits regarding both the variety of foods they eat and the flavours they experience. This is therefore the ideal time for your little one to learn to eat a wide range of foods, always in moderation.

From the age of one, the recommended drinks are water, milk, and natural fruit juices. Soft drinks should be reserved for special occasions.

What about sweets?

Sweets can be enjoyed in moderation. After all, they are children and they will naturally want them. It is not advisable to ban them completely, but it is important to be careful with sugar.

And remember that home-cooked meals will always be a better choice than pre-prepared foods or meals from restaurant chains.

If you need more information or have any questions, remember that you can make an appointment with your regular paediatrician to discuss them.
