COVID-19 DISCHARGE: EPIDEMIOLOGICAL RECOVERY CERTIFICATE
COVID-19 DISCHARGE: EPIDEMIOLOGICAL RECOVERY CERTIFICATE
In several South American countries, including Peru, Uruguay, and Argentina, travellers may be required to present a certificate confirming that they have completed the mandatory isolation period and are no longer infected with COVID-19.
In recent months, procedures have been streamlined to facilitate the early epidemiological clearance of international travellers whenever the applicable health requirements are met.
TELEMEDICINE SERVICE FOR COVID-19 CLEARANCE
The process begins with an initial telemedicine consultation between the patient and the physician assigned to manage their COVID-19 case.
During this consultation, the patient explains their symptoms and medical history, allowing the physician to carry out a comprehensive clinical assessment.
The doctor also provides guidance on isolation measures, symptom management, and any recommendations to be followed while the patient remains positive. Throughout the process, the same physician supervises the patient's care to ensure continuity and personalised medical follow-up.
COVID-19 FOLLOW-UP
During the mandatory isolation period, the patient's condition is monitored through regular medical follow-up.
If considered clinically appropriate, the physician may prescribe medication to help relieve COVID-19 symptoms and support recovery.
Isolation requirements may vary depending on the destination country. However, in many cases, in addition to completing the required isolation period, patients must also obtain a negative COVID-19 test result before being medically cleared.
EPIDEMIOLOGICAL RECOVERY CERTIFICATE
What is an Epidemiological Recovery Certificate?
This medical certificate confirms that the patient is not suffering from any disease subject to quarantine requirements, nor from any contagious infectious disease or other condition that could pose a risk to public health.
The certificate confirming recovery from COVID-19 or completion of the required isolation period is issued once the patient has obtained a negative molecular (PCR) or rapid antigen test. In some countries, this assessment is typically carried out six days after the traveller's arrival.
The Epidemiological Recovery Certificate is valid for 90 days from its date of issue.
