Semesur Assistance has extensive experience providing medical services at major sporting events.

Large sporting events require carefully planned medical coverage to safeguard the health and safety of both athletes and spectators. Naturally, the spotlight is on the competitors and the fans cheering from the grandstands, while the medical teams work behind the scenes. Although they rarely receive the same attention, their role is every bit as essential to the success and safety of the event.

In addition to its extensive experience in medical escorts and home medical visits, Semesur Assistance provides comprehensive medical services for major sporting events. Two outstanding examples are the medical operations delivered for the Red Bull Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix and the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, held at the Circuito de Jerez, with the 2019 edition taking place from 7 to 9 June.

For both events, the scale of the medical operation is virtually identical. The Circuit Medical Director coordinates all medical activities from a fully equipped Medical Centre, where riders receive immediate specialist care from a multidisciplinary team that includes anaesthetists, intensive care physicians, trauma surgeons, general surgeons, radiologists, nurses, and healthcare assistants. The Circuit Emergency Clinic is equipped to provide advanced emergency treatment and stabilise injured patients before further transfer if required.

The Circuito de Jerez, with its more than four kilometres of world-renowned racing track, requires rapid medical intervention at any point on the circuit. To achieve this, 22 medical response teams are strategically positioned around the track, including Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) vehicles staffed by physicians, nurses, and emergency medical technicians. Their objective is to reach injured riders in less than 20 seconds, provide immediate emergency care, and transport them safely to the Circuit Medical Centre.

At the same time, Semesur Assistance operates a completely separate medical service dedicated to spectators attending the event. This operation includes Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICUs), Basic Life Support ambulances, and several fully equipped medical stations providing emergency treatment and Advanced Life Support (ALS) capabilities throughout the venue.

A comprehensive emergency response plan is also developed in close collaboration with Spain's emergency and security services—including the Guardia Civil, National Police, Local Police, and Civil Protection—ensuring that every organisation works in perfect coordination throughout the event.

This combination of highly qualified healthcare professionals, advanced medical equipment, and meticulous planning enables Semesur Assistance to provide the highest standard of medical care for riders competing at the very limit of performance, while also ensuring the safety and well-being of the thousands of fans enjoying an unforgettable weekend of world-class motorcycle racing.
