TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION IN MEDICAL TRANSPORT HELICOPTER OPERATIONS – INFOCA

SEMESUR Assistance Blog - Form
During these training sessions, held in collaboration with the forest firefighters, our nurses and doctors also take part in order to provide medical assistance tailored to the conditions and challenges that may arise while carrying out operations during an active wildfire.

START OF THE INFOCA SEASON

In Andalusia, the high-risk period for forest fires begins and will remain active until 15 October. The Andalusian Forest Fire Emergency Plan involves an extensive team made up of a wide range of professionals.

TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION FOR MEDICAL TRANSPORT OPERATIONS

These training sessions are provided to members of the CEDEFOS centres from different locations, who receive a safety briefing in order to obtain certification for helicopter flights used for medical transfers.

Practical boarding and disembarking exercises are also frequently carried out, simulating the complete procedure and protocol followed during a forest fire emergency.

During these training sessions, held in collaboration with forest firefighters, our nurses and doctors also participate in order to provide medical assistance adapted to the conditions and difficulties that may arise while carrying out operations during an active wildfire. Therefore, it is essential to know how to act, what equipment is required for the safe transfer of injured personnel, and the procedures to follow in each situation.

SEMESUR'S ROLE IN THE INFOCA PLAN

SEMESUR is responsible for coordinating the UMIF (Forest Fire Medical Unit), ensuring they are located at the advanced command posts whenever required. The #UMIF Medical Units provide integrated healthcare support within the emergency response system, guaranteeing medical assistance for personnel involved in firefighting operations.

This work continues through an ongoing coordination and monitoring process, both for staff rotation and for positioning these units in the locations where medical assistance is required.
