Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix 2021
MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP – JEREZ
Amid the COVID-21 pandemic, and following last year's edition, which was marked by uncertainty and disruption, the MotoGP World Championship returns stronger than ever.
The Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix is a premier motorcycle road racing event that has been held in Spain since 1950. Since 1989, the MotoGP World Championship has been hosted each year at the Circuito de Jerez, renamed the Circuito de Jerez–Ángel Nieto in 2018 in honor of Ángel Nieto Roldán, the legendary rider who won 13 Motorcycle World Championships.
According to the provisional calendar announced by the FIM and Dorna, the Circuito de Jerez will host the 2021 Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix on May 2, 2021.
SEMESUR'S MEDICAL DEPLOYMENT AT THE MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP – JEREZ
This year, our team will deploy two medical assistance units at the event to provide healthcare services for riders, track personnel, and team members, including mechanics.
As part of the first deployment, Semesur Assistance will provide a total of 160 healthcare professionals across various medical specialties focused on motorsport, including specialist physicians, doctors, nurses, emergency medical technicians, and track medical assistants.
As every year, all SEMESUR personnel receive prior training to ensure they can respond quickly and effectively to any incident that may occur on the track. To provide the highest level of care, we operate a fully equipped medical center with all the necessary resources to deliver immediate medical attention to riders.
WHAT WAS THE MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP – JEREZ LIKE BEFORE COVID-19?
Anyone who attended previous editions or followed them on television or social media will remember the huge crowds that gathered at the circuit. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance over the three-day event regularly exceeded 200,000 spectators, with thousands of fans traveling from across Spain and abroad to experience the Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix live.
Unlike this year's event, before the coronavirus pandemic a second medical deployment was dedicated exclusively to providing healthcare services for spectators. This team consisted of approximately 50 to 60 professionals, including doctors, nurses, emergency medical technicians, and other healthcare assistants.
TICKET SALES AND 2021 GP TICKET EXCHANGES
Given the current circumstances and based on the forecasts and guidance provided by the Spanish Ministry of Health, the Circuito de Jerez–Ángel Nieto decided to postpone the advance ticket sales for the MotoGP Grand Prix, which traditionally took place each November, until 2021.
However, spectators will once again be unable to attend this year's event. Therefore, tickets purchased for the 2020 Grand Prix that could not be used this year will be carried over once again and will remain valid for the 2022 MotoGP Grand Prix.
Once again, SEMESUR ASSISTANCE will provide top-quality medical services at the Circuito de Jerez, supporting the riders throughout one of the world's most prestigious motorsport events: the MotoGP World Championship.
