Did you know that everyone entering Spain must complete the Health Control Form and obtain a QR code to present at boarding and during the health checks upon arrival in Spain?

REQUESTING COVID-19 CERTIFICATES

Anyone entering Spain from another country, including passengers in international transit, is required to complete the Health Control Form.

Once completed, a QR code is generated, which must be presented both at boarding and during the health checks upon arrival in Spain.

This requirement applies regardless of age, gender, nationality, or any other personal circumstance. The only exception is for children under 12 years of age, who are not required to present these certificates.

HOW TO ENTER SPAIN FROM ABROAD

Since 7 June 2021, all passengers arriving from countries or regions considered at risk for COVID-19 transmission have been required to present one of the following three documents in order to enter Spain:

  • A COVID-19 vaccination certificate.

  • A negative Diagnostic Test for Active Infection certificate.

  • A Certificate of Recovery confirming recovery from COVID-19.

Only vaccines authorised by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or the World Health Organization (WHO), and recognised by the country where the vaccination was administered, are accepted.

To demonstrate compliance with one of these requirements, travellers may present either an official certificate issued by the relevant authority or an EU Digital COVID Certificate, whether arriving from an EU Member State or from a non-EU country.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTERING SPAIN

If you do not have an EU Digital COVID Certificate, but instead possess another official vaccination, diagnostic test, or recovery certificate, the document must meet the following requirements:

  • The original document must be presented.

  • It must be written in Spanish, English, French, or German.

  • It may be presented in either paper or electronic format.

  • It must include the traveller's full name.

Depending on the type of certificate, additional information is also required.

Vaccination certificates must include:

  • The date on which the full vaccination schedule was completed.

  • Confirmation that at least 14 days have passed since completing the vaccination before arrival in Spain.

Diagnostic test certificates must include:

  • The date the sample was collected.

  • Identification and contact details of the testing laboratory or healthcare provider.

  • The testing method used.

  • A negative test result.

Certificates of Recovery must include:

  • The date of the first positive COVID-19 test.

  • Confirmation that the traveller has recovered from COVID-19 and is no longer infectious.

  • The country in which the certificate was issued.

PRESENTING COVID-19 CERTIFICATES AT AIRPORTS AND BORDER CONTROLS

Airlines and shipping companies will verify that passengers have either their QR code or, where applicable, the required supporting documentation (vaccination, diagnostic test, or recovery certificate).

Please note that, upon arrival in Spain, travellers may also be subject to additional health screening at the airport, including the possibility of being required to undergo a COVID-19 diagnostic test.
